Annother Project

January 13, 2012

Not exactly a project, but certainly a J-O-B. H rented a rug cleaner from Food Lion and spent the entire day working on the carpet in the office, the hall and stairs. What a job. I couldn’t believe how long it took. Why? Because I decided I wanted to change the furniture arrangement. When you do that, you pay the consequences. There were huge, square imprints where the file cabinets had left their impression. The carpet around them was a different color. What a mess. It required several cleanings.

Anyway, I like the arrangement. It hides the cords. That’s good because cord-exposure is nasty.

Oops. I didn’t mean to publish this. I hadn’t finished it but….. I’m hungry and the water is boiling for my spaghetti.

Cord exposure is nasty? I’m in trouble! Lamp cords and such are properly hidden, but the cable for the computer snakes around three short walls to get to its connection. At least the cord’s white and the baseboards are white, so it’s camouflaged. (Note: I tried three different spellings of that word before running to google to sort it out.)

If I were a proper renter and sat at the built-in desk that’s meant for a computer, all would be well – except then I’d be staring at a wall instead of looking out a window onto a long stretch of water. No choice there!

    Spaghetti – yum!

You didn’t even tell me that I misspelled another in the title! :)

Oh, the spaghetti was so good. I love spaghetti and I put red pepper flakes in it to give it some heat. Love a little heat in my spaghetti.

My cords were exposed for years because I had the desk perpendicular to the wall. When you walked in the room, you were looking at the back of the desk and all the cords in all their glory. The arrangement worked because I could sit on one side of the desk and H sat on the other. Now I sit in the middle of the desk and he’s at the end (by the window). I gave up my window view. I can still see it a bit, but it isn’t quite the view I once had. I guess it’s only fair for him to get it for a while, but who wants to be fair?

You are way, way, WAY too much on a roll! I still don’t have Christmas down (this weekend’s project, woefully delayed because I’d rather spend time checking in with you all!). I try to manage cords, but when push comes to shove, I can’t even manage my life!

We are on a roll around here, Jeanie. H isn’t working anymore… or hardly. I don’t know how long it will take for me to run out of projects for him. :) Hopefully I can keep him busy till the weather is warm enough for golf or we’ll finally get that divorce. :)

What an undertaking, that carpet cleaning thing. Good on ya’ for doing it! Had to laugh about cutting it short…I’ve been texting on a new phone and for pete’s sake, I end up sending messages far before I’ve finished typing them — yeah, due to button confusion. (sigh)

Yes, we say “crack the window” in this house. (carry over from our northeast coast roots!)

I can’t believe myself. I keep hitting that publish button prematurely. Who knows what you guys will see around here. I think “crack the window” is the way to go.

The accidental post spoke to me! This weekend, we finally got a corner stand to hold our flat screen TV. Since we moved into our new house, the TV has been sitting on the mantle above the fireplace with obnoxious cords springing from the side leading to the power and cable outlets in the corner of the room. My husband wanted the TV above the fireplace but would never call and electrician to make that work. I finally broke him down and reasoned that a corner cabinet would be cheaper and easier. We have a nice print to go above the fireplace. And Wala! problem solved in one afternoon.
