flying

January 22, 2012

We’re packed… mostly. All my little 3-ounce bottles of moisturizer and liquid makeup and shampoo are zipped up safely in a one quart plastic bag. I’m no threat to anyone. We’ve managed to get everything into two carry-on bags for each of us – my purse being one. My iPod is all charged up, and it has three books on it. Hopefully, this will keep me too occupied to engage in claustrophobic hysteria. I’ve been known to be quite dramatic under certain circumstances. I do not wish for you to see me on the eleven o’clock news.

What? Have I never mentioned that I have a tendency to get a little claustrophobic on planes? And did I even tell you that H got an iPod for me? He did. I have an issue with my eyes (too boring to go into) and reading has become difficult. I read a post the other day that questioned whether listening to books was cheating. How pretentious are we going to get?

I LOVE my iPod. It is a dream come true, and even though the experience of listening to a book is different from reading it yourself, it’s still quite wonderful, and I feel fortunate to for the option.  What a world we live in.

We are so looking forward to seeing our three grandchildren and meeting the brand spanking new Lilou (lee-lou). Her mama says she has Angelina Jolie’s lips. I don’t know about that, but she definitely has extremely plump, orb-shaped, pinchable cheeks. I can tell from the pictures. And kissable and smoochable!

I’ll be somewhere in the skies tomorrow from 9:30 am till 2:00 pm. and then Lilou is mine.

Bon voyage! Have a wonderful time! Smooch and snuggle to your heart’s content and then do it some more. Well, and maybe even a little more.

Sympathy re: the claustrophobia. I think I have a little touch myself. And I have a friend who didn’t know she had tendencies, until they shoved her into an MRI machine, and she nearly showed up on the 11 p.m. news.

Hope the weather doesn’t give you problems. Happy trip!

Oh, the MRI torture machine. It’s like being entombed. I also have a friend who had a terrible experience. It was funny, but only after it was over. The experience did give her a great story to tell at large gatherings.

I will definitely get my snuggling quota this week. :)

Considering what a worrywart I am, I never worry on a plane. I have a very Zen way of looking at it all….if it’s my time to go, at least I’ll be on an adventure when I go. I always just hope I die on the way home, not on the way to my adventure.

We must have pictures of that new grandbaby!

I am horribly claustrophobic, but for some reason airplanes don’t bother me much.

Have glorious time with all the little ones :)

I have to take slow steady breaths on planes – not worried about the C word, but that small space. The books will help a LOT. I love to listen to audio books – in fact I credit them with my sanity since I can’t really drive safely without listening to a book. What, me with road rage? DEFINITELY! Ha!

Oh, Bella, I know you’ll have a glorious time. Celebrate that sweet one and we’ll look forward to seeing photos. May you have no delays, no turbulence and a grand time! Bon voyage!

I would love to sit next to you on a plane. :)

Can’t wait to hear about how much fun you had loving on that baby. I’m in newborn heaven right now and she isn’t even here. I forgot how tiny newborn diapers are. Precious!!!!
